I bought an older Uggie online to cut up for my son. I bought it because it had "issues" and I wouldn't feel bad shortening it up, but I had no idea what I would find. The guy I bought it off of (online) said that it had to be opened all the way or it wouldn't cock one barrel all the time. It actually wouldn't cock unless you bent it over your knee as hard as humanly possible.
I found it had what looked like a top lever spring in where the right hammer spring should be (A&D copy). I got in touch with Cole Haugh and he sent me a spring and we were in business. After two or three seasons it broke a firing pin. I sent the gun to Mr. Haugh for him to fit a replacement. He asked me if I wanted a correct top lever spring put in instead of the coil spring on the automatic safety rod pushing the locking element, which was working but was not correct.
I didn't realize that the spring that was there was incorrect.
Now I can put the whole thing together. whoever "fixed" the gun before took the top lever v spring and used it for the hammer spring that was broken and cut a piece of coil spring to rig up the top lever/locking element. Unbelievable!
Now thanks to Mr. Haugh all is well and CJ is good for another few years.

If you're not afraid to dig into a gun, and have a good mechanical aptitude, you can pick up some good deals among these train wrecks. I'm glad you're bringing it back to functionality again Chaz.
