I'm looking at buying a 28 gauge SxS. Price range is around $8,000. I've looked online at the RBL, Rizzini 550, and Merkel 280. I prefer single trigger and pistol grip. (I know that is heresy to some of you). Also would like longish barrels.
Any other suggestions? All opinions are welcome.

In that range (or a bit less), I like the RBL with 30" barrels. There are probably a fair number of Spanish 28ga guns available with 29" barrels, most likely AyA 4/53 and No. 2.

When you mentioned single trigger, my mind went blank. Sorry.

The RBL should be your choice, hands down. 30" barrels for sure. Highly recommend you go with the semi-beavertail with the single trigger and pistol grip. Talk with Lou or Kamil and get all little details down on paper. A few things I suggest you get:
Tru-Oil finish. Dark Turkish exhibition wood (if you don't specify dark wood, you'll get blond wood with black streaks). Be sure to tell them to fit the grip cap flush with the front of the grip or you'll have a little lip jutting out. Chokes. JR

Why would Fausti not offer double triggers? Bobby

Good link on the Fausti. I did not even know they they were building 28ga hammer guns with 29" barrels. Pretty sweet. http://www.faustiusa.com/prodotti.php?cat=16&prod=42I just picked up a Sarasqueta hammer 20 with 32" barrels, and I thought I was done buying hammer guns. Maybe not.

I have found single triggers on side by side guns problematic.
The Miller single trigger has a good reputation though.
My recommendation would be to get double triggers. I don't recommend this because the single makes you a heretic but because, in my experience, single triggers on doubles are a problem (except for the Winchester 21).
I had an SKB 28 gauge SxS with 28" barrels, pistol grip, vent rib, and single trigger. It didn't work at first but after cleaning and lubrication it was flawless. I took it to Cordoba on a dove shoot and fired several thousand rounds through it. The gun weighed 7 pounds.
The Parker Reproductions 28ga with 28" barrels and pistol grip are available and come with either single or double triggers. I had one with a single trigger and had to send it off. The gunsmith cleaned it and it was fine after that. So that might work for you too.
If you do decide to go with double triggers the AyA No2 with 29" barrels at Cabelas might work out for you.
I am glad to be here.

The Browning BSS single triggers are just about flawless. Berettas are pretty darn good, too. SRH

Goillini, How heavy (or light) a gun do you want? I just sold my RBL 28. It did not fit me and was too light for me to shoot well consistently. I would look at a Poli. They will make barrels up to 32" and their single trigger is good. The Basques will build you whatever you want. I don't know about their single triggers. If you think you want a 5.5# gun spend some time with one or two before committing to a custom gun. I would love a 6# 30" 28 gauge that fit me. I'm just unwilling to commit the $$ required to make that happen. Regards Jeff
