Can we assume this is the old Parker that you wish to "improve" with a fatter grip?

You're going to give those guys with the Perazzi and Rizzini O/U guns a heart attack.

If you end up wrapping the grip with anything, I'd use shrink wrap or Saran wrap first to keep any type of adhesives from sticking to the remaining original finish. Maybe even some paste wax first as a release agent for the shrink wrap.

I had tried padded gloves and I didn't think they worked very well.

I called my shooting student Joe Wood and he suggested the stretchy blue medical tape they use now. It is kind of foam. At first I thought he meant the blue painters tape and that sounded like a great idea. Joe didn't think it was but I tried it anyway. I had an old Parker stock that, before it came into my possession had a toe knocked off. The stock had then been reshaped into a swan bellied instead of repairing the toe. It had also had a split in the wrist and had been pinned. It had also been split at the wrist horizontally and repaired. So I put the 3M blue painters tape on it and built it up into the shape I was looking for. I then let it sit several hours. When I removed the blue painters tape it took substantial finish with just as Joe had predicted.

So I went to WalMart and got the blue medical foam tape that sticks to itself. I think that is what Buzz recommended except in the veterinarian form. I put it on the old beater stock and left for awhile. It came off without pulling up any finish. So I wrapped the wrist until it felt about right and put then covered the blue tape with white bandage tape. I kept the white bandage tape off of the wood. It is as ugly as an old man's ass but that's life in the fast lane.

So I will try the gun Thursday.

Thanks for all the idea and recommendations. If this doesn't work out I will work down through the ones that seem the most likely with the least amount of trouble and expense.

Mike, that vet tape comes in many flashy colors. One would surely fit your personality.

Daryl that is unfair! The fact that I am able to maintain my deep sense of humility (despite being blessed with good looks, high intelligence, talent, charm and great ability) is one of my most endearing qualities.

For those of you who haven't had the privilege of meeting Mike I offer this image suitable for framing.

He often confuses his personality traits with mine. Harmless little idiosyncrasy.

Both those birds have something that goes well beyond a "gone to roost" look about 'em ;-);-)

tw I know you have hunted with Wood a couple of times. Be sure and check the game in his bag before he cleans it and sends it home with you. This is the strangest looking dove I ever saw - maybe it is one of those Eurasian dove everyone is talking about:

Molly retrieved it before Joe posed with his trophy:

No whining to Dave Joe. The statute of limitations has run out on this one.

Aw, now you've taken the gloves off and want a round of bare knuckle fighting, eh? OK, the next round is on me and I can pick the time and place.......

May the sun always be in your eyes and the shotgun shells in your pockets be for the gun you left behind.....
