Sounds like the metal will clean up nicely. How badly is the stock cracked under the leather patchwork? Butt transplants are not something I offer but if I was going to offer them structural integrity of the head of the stock would be critical. I try to council my clients to not spend "good money after bad" as my mother put it. I'm not trying to change your plans for the gun, just curious is all. Great project!
