In harmony with Wild Cattle, if the rear lump is properly fitted its value in helping absorb the back thrust is of greater value than is the extra bolt in the forward lump. The leverage advantage of the front bolt is so much shorter than that of the rear one it has only a fraction of the ability to bolt the barrels. the leverage of the rear bolt is such it is quite capable of keeping the gun "Shut" all my its lonesome. look at Parker Bro's & Win 21's. Both have a single bolt & neither have the reputation of coming Open upon firing. In fact "In my opinion" the greatest value of the forward bolt is in camming the bolt back as the barrels are closed so it does not have to use one of those cantankerous lever latches.
