Yes sir, it would be hard to go wrong with a gun made by VS, assuming said gun had not been abused or simply worn out. Remember that VS went out of business about forty years ago, so the youngest VS shotgun we're going to find is at least that old.

"Buy the gun and not the name", at least as I use it, means don't buy a used gun or refuse to buy a used gun based on who did or did not make it.
