Hi Alvin:

The Kollmorgen 4X Bear Cub is one of the best scopes that I have ever used!

I broke mine in half when I fell while crossing some frozen muskeg that had about two feet of fresh snow on top. When it broke,I gathered up all of the pieces that I could find, and was suprised to find a large spring in the mix of parts. This spring was about 2.5" long and looked like a valve spring that would have been used in an auto enging. It fit inside of the tube . I guess that it was to take up some of the recoil to protect the internal parts of the scope from recoil.

My scope had a 26mm tube and was in Redfield rings. If I remember correctly, id did not have a cented reticule. It did have the brightest and best defined view that I had ever seen in a scope. I wonder if there is a scope made today that would match its performance. Any suggestions as to what scope would match its optics?

Stay well,

Franchi

Franchi: Good News! It only took me about a week, to find a -like new- specimen on ebay! I found several for sale there, as well as Guns International Optics CLASSIFIEDS and Gun Broker. You are correct the reticles are not constantly centered. The closest I've seen to them with a constantly centered reticle is the Bal-for 4x by Bausch and Lomb.

Good Luck

Alvin
