Thanks Doc Drew. It did look like the examples were different barrels. Those small 'bulges', that look like dimples in the chamber area, don't seem to follow the classic ring bulge described by Burrard. I was just guessing that the mechanism of a barrel failure may not always be an obstruction.

Yes, someone attempted to lengthen the forcing cones and the wall thickness just past the end of the right chamber was only .087, and it very likely was fed some 16g short magnums frown
