I agree with Buzz too.
Many gunwriters have "borrowed" Burrard's knowdledge without citing him.

All one needs is Shotguns & Cartridges for Game & Clays by Gough Thomas. Bought a copy for $5 at a fancy garage sale.

I made an error in my first statement. It only took Major Burrard eight years rather than ten to produce the 3 Volume work.

8Bore - 75 to 100 bucks.

Although, I guarantee somebody will chime in who just bought a set for half that.

I don't care what it is, or where you discuss it... someone will always claim he bought the same thing cheaper than you did - and most times he didn't.

Why is that?

Here's what appears to be a nice set in their slipcover for $66.50 plus $3.99 shipping.

So, that's what they're worth. Thanks, Joe. I have an extra set if anyone is interested. It is a great book.

It happens to me from time to time. I don't think it's one-upmanship. More of wanting to make a connection: I've been looking, too, and got a good deal. It just happens that it seems less more often than a higher cost.

In Nova Scotia, come-from-aways think it's rude to ask where a person is from. It almost traditional with us, part of our culture, wanting to make a connection because there's usually one, one way or another.

This one is more interesting as a historical document. It is a set of simple questions with short, precise, up-to-the-point answers. The problem is that the questions that worried an average shooting gentleman in 1930 - e.g. "Can I order a pair of Over-Unders using my side-by-side stock dimensions or do I have to be measured again?" - are not exactly the questions which concern modern hunter and double gun lover.
