Several barrel makers offer Henry rifing, Krieger and Oregon barrel works(Joe Williams) both come to mind. If it was my gun and worthy of preservation, a rebarrel in the same contour with proper form rifling is what I would do.

If it has to be relined, what about 450 Rigby Match(2.4")? That is a British cartridge with a case like 45-90 Win, but throated for a 480 grain bullet. With this bullet, at least you have a chance that you can find a load that will regulate.

Both good suggestions. I went to the Krieger web site and they offer a .458 henry rifled barrel in 1.3" dia. If they would turn that down to 5/8" that might be the answer. What do you think??

Krieger will not turn it down for you, maybe someone else will. How big is your barrel at the muzzle? I'm never a fan of lining, but that is just me. A lot of very good gunsmiths offer lining on black powder cartridges. You might check with John Taylor over on the ASSRA sight.
