Be in or be out but if you can't honestly agree that the NRA is the only serious gun owners have to keep them, you truly are an idiot.

Devisive? Did someone mention devisive?

Jim, let me tell you a story.
In 1975 California passed a small group of laws known as MICRA (for Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act). This was, and still is, the strongest legislative protection ever enacted in the U.S. to shield doctors from civil liability for medical negligence. The limit for recovery due to medical negligence in California is $250,000 even for horrible injuries or death.
Well, in 1998 California for the first time in a very long time elected a democratic governer, Davis, and at the same time elected a democratic majority in the both state legislative houses.
The trial lawyers were elated. The first law they tried to change was MICRA. Wanted to raise the limits of liability above the $250,000 in place since 1975. Thought they had a slam dunk. A bill was drafted and sponsered by a few democratic legislators.
Right out of the chute, about 25 democratic legislators and the new governer signed a letter saying the MICRA laws were just fine and they would not support a change.
Turns out the CMA (California Medical Association) had hired a key democratic lobbyist to work for them starting in about 1990! Since then the CMA was, I think, the second largest contributor to the democratic party and its candidates. (First I think was the teachers.)
That was the end of it. The legislation was withdrawn. No change to MICRA.
Possibly, the NRA should take notes. Find the democrat pols who are pro gun and give them lots of money. The NRA needs to broaden their base. Surely, there must be some pro gun dems out there who need NRA support.
Think about it.
