Tanky,

All states but two, Wisconcin and Illinois have concealed carry laws. Vermont does not require a permit, anyone can carry concealed in Vermont. Some states have more liberal reciprocity laws. For example there are many states that will recognize a CCW permit from any issuing state. Others will recognize a permit from any state that has requirements equivalent or more restrictive than their own. There are a handful of states that will not recognize a CCW permit from any other state such as California and New York.

Amen, Jim. We still have a great majority of gun owners who are willing to sit back and let somebody else take care of it. I, for one, certainly don't agree with everything the NRA says and does, but the fact remains, it is the ONLY pro-gun voice which is actually HEARD in Washington. Come guys, dust off the checkbooks and show your support!!!

Partisan chest-thumping doesn't help the NRA - it just antagonizes their natural allies in the fight to defend the Second Amendment. Yet every few months one of these "my way or the highway" threads crops up again from an NRA member.

Try to understand - there are public and political forums which are closed to the NRA, but open to other RKBA organizations. There are things about the NRA that some gun owners can't stomach. Yet we can still exert political pressure for RKBA through other outfits with whom we can agree - other outfits that can be heard where the NRA has become persona non grata.

Boasting that "the NRA is the only game in town" is not only untrue, it disrespects the good work of outfits like the Izaak Walton League, and blows off gun owners who want a voice but don't find it in the NRA.

Believe me, American gun owners these days need friends, not enemies - and that goes for the National Rifle Association, too.

Believe me Jack, these days when the libs have spooky campfire stories to tell, the things that go bump in the night are the NRA.

Being scary is nothing to brag about. Especially when scaring folks who are instinctively timid anyway.

Believe me, Jack!
What I said IS a fact, not a boast. None of the wannabes are even close also-rans. When was the last time you heard of ANYONE but the NRA mentioned by a Congressman, the press, or anyone else as being a significant pro-gun lobbying group. Mention the Isaac Walton League and prople will rightly think you're talking about a fishing organization. Mention the NRA and everybody, even Democrats know who you're talking about.
Nobody says the NRA is perfect but it is damn sure effective and the only pro-gun organization anyone listens to.
No brag, just fact. Walter Brennan.

I can do no more than to add my support to what Jim posted above. Support whatever organization you believe in but please continue to support the NRA. They are by far are best chance to defeat the gun grabbers.

Smallbore, ever since Breat Britain passed thei landmark firearms act in 1929; the law that would reduce crime forever, Britain has had an increase in violent crime every year since.

As far as comparing Brits/Britain to us? Please dont. Unfortunately the once resolute and steadfast Tommy is no more; as evidenced in the circus after the 15 Brits made propagda videos, were released, sold stories to the papers and embraced their former captors in print. And on top of that they felt it was futile to resist prior to capture or before. One former prisoner even said he would love to go back for a visit. Well, I guess I owuld too,; in the turret of an M2A3 Bradley!!!!!

So, please, dont compare us to your "people" . I am an American, a gun owner, a hunter, carry concealed and have the right to. I will excercise that right whenever I want. I dont display any tendancies to be violent and having acccess to firearms doesnt make me or anyone else so.

No offense to you personaly but as Winnie said, two different peoples seprated by a common language. Oh yeah, dont forget all the firearms private citizend sent to Britain before our involvement in WW2. Yes, they were privately owned, and many of them handguns. So you could defend your country in the event of the "impending invasion".

as was said by I cant remeber whio, "he who sacrifices liberty for security has neither."

and " an armed society is a polite society".
