I just finished shooting up a flat of Eley "Superb" Competition shells--plastic, 2 3/4", 1 oz--that I picked up from Hugh Lomas at the Great Northern SxS. No problems with function; can't fault the performance (except of the shooter!) However, I think these are older shells that Hugh had on hand for some time. Not sure where they were made, because the boxes are marked: MADE IN EUROPEAN UNION. Then underneath that: GREAT BRITAIN.
I've shot Kent Pure Gold papers for quite some time, at wild pheasants rather than targets. And we shot Kent Pure Gold plastic 1 oz loads (2 1/2") at driven birds in Scotland last year. No complaints with any of those.
