Thanks Chaps, it is a 1931 8 litre Bentley Brooklands, was rebodied in approx 1984 hence condition, was a lot of fun while I owned it but a bit fierce on fuel consumption !! best, Mike

Not a hammerless sidelock, but a back-action lock with DRGM 196172(circa 1905 & more than likely protection for 3 years) on the tumbler/lockwork. I've seen the DRGM stamps many places but I believe this to be a 1st. On a cursory view, anyone have any ideas what makes it novel vs. any other back-action hammergun lock? Somewhat relevant here and only thread that came to mind. DRGM / Gebrauchsmuster 196172 Kind Regards, Raimey rse

rebounding? the tumbler seems to be designed to catch the lower spring limb. Of course that was probably not new when these locks were made... Best Regards, WC-

There is a fantastic 396-page book named "Platines" by Laurent Bedu, that describes the most common sidelock systems: Beesley, Holland, "Scott", etc... and also includes the Italian ones Betretta, Zanotti, ... and the obscure ones such as Defourny and Francotte FASD. The book is in French but I know that the author is working on an English translation...... WC: Did the English version ever materialize? Serbus, Raimey rse

Perhaps the Bedu book has a photo of the totally pinless Fabbio Zanotti lock, that should put the pin worries to rest.
