Sorry, I was using the 'Yet another Belgian Clunker' reference as sometimes seen on this site to show a Belgian gun that has been made by a true artist. I suspect that it was never meant to really be fired. You will find more pictures in Greener's book on pages 221 and 223. Lagopus.....

As much as I have to admire the obvious skill and workmanship that went into it, I feel it's about as ugly a gun as I've ever seen. Before all y'all dog pile all over me, I'm simply voicing my subjective opinion which has nothing to do with skill and workmanship but rather with artistic taste. Steve

I think where the confusion came in is the phrase I have always seen posted here was JABC (Just Another Belgian Clunker). I kinow it was a term used often by Russ Ruppel when he was withus. As far as I know it may well have originated with Russ.

Lapogus, During the 1990's I had several opportunities to visit the Liege arms museum in Belgium. For me the most fascinating gun on display, was the 17 barrel gun made the English gun maker Dupe of Oxford. This superb one of a kind gun should surely be in a British museum. The gun was made circa 1800 for that redoubtable sportsman, Colonel Thornton to whom credit is given for opening up sport in the Scottish Highlands. Perhaps Birmingham & Liege could consider a trade?

He also was the first I had seen to refer to Guild Guns to indicate guns of Belgian manufacture but no other identification possible. You now see the term thrown out on some boards to describe anything from Europe. Sure miss Ol' Ruppel.
