I wondered about the Dog's Head Escutcheon forearm as I didn't see any like it in Bob Elliot's book. I also noticed that some of the C-/CE-Grades pictured had the ebony inlay piece behind the sideplates (45576) while another (48951) had the drop-points like this gun. The CE-Grade pictured in the only Lefever Arms Co. repro catalogue I have has the drop-points.

I fired five shots at station one at skeet this morning with the Lefever just to check function. Its .037" choke right and .034" choke left aren't optimal for skeet, but I got three of the five birds. I was amazed at how dainty the grip felt. I measured it this evening, barely 4 1/8 inch circumference. The two straight grip Ansley H. Fox doubles I shoot the most are 4 3/8 and 4 1/2 inch circumference.
