Let's see Small Bore. There was a time in your country when you could carry a concealed weapon and the crime rate was exstremely low. I believe that time was just prior to WW1. Your politicians chipped away at your rights and now you find yourself with a much higher crime rate. There is no experiment or new ground to cover with allowing citezens to carry a concealed handgun. It was so in our country virtually everywhere prior to WW2. Our government started to chip away at our rights also but recently we are starting to gain concealed carry back and today about half of the states have concealed carry. I read myself the predictions of the anti gun and self defence newspapers that we are going back to the wild west days and that there would be carnage in the streets. When concealed carry was passed in these states the end result was a lower crime rate not a higher crime rate. The antis hate these statistics because they fly in the face of their lies that they been pumping out for years. Carrying a hand gun is a big responsability and a big hassle. Many permit holders I know carry only when they feel it is necessary and not all the time. I've been an NRA member before I owned my first gun. The NRA is the gunowners union. The collective voice is heard in politics and they get results. Of course if you are a gun owner that thinks that gun ownership is a privilege and not a right you would probably believe the anti gun crap pumped out by the news media. The media distorts all the major gun issues to try and paint the NRA as exstreme. The COP killer bullet issue comes to mind. They simply say that the NRA opposed the cop killer bullet bill. Of course they did because as writen it would have outlawed all your popular deer hunting calibers. That is why I am a member. I pay them to keep an eye on the tricky politicians that are continually trying to bilk me out of my rights. Unfortanately I have to go to work every day and I can't do that job myself. One very important thing to remember about gun control is that it has nothing to do with crime or guns and everything to do with control. Crime is only the exscuse to sell gun control to you and the public at large. Hitler got the gun control he wanted by using crime as an exscuse. I'm so very gratefull and see a little hope with Bush's 2 appointments to the Supreme Court of strict constitutionalists. Hopefully when the Demacrats win the white house next election the American public will see the Freak show that they put in power and will sicken them for years to come.
