Hey folks, my dad bought a custom L'Atelier Verney-Carron 12 gauge sxs 5 years ago. He even went to France to the fabric and they took his stock dimensions,he selected the wood, type of engraving etc. Now he is gonna give this gun to me as a gift and i wanted to hear your opinion about the gun so i will post the pictures. It also has original case containing the tools and with makers name on it and extra 1 set of barrels. Sorry about the quality since i took them with a mobile phone.

Well, this is beautifull stuff. Past yaer I have seen and spoken with the representativs of V.C. at the hunting expo in Gent (Belgium) and I what my eyes have seen there was top quality gunmaking. A forum member "Gunwolf" can witness that there was an article about V.C. in there luxury German hunting magazine with the name HALALI. I hope to see V.C. this month at one of the France hunting expo's in Lille "Saison de chasse"

They do very nice stuff. Mark Beasland should be along to comment. He has a couple guns from the V-C custom shop.

Reminds me of an old joke:
"Soons I catches my breath, I would call it precious."
Beautiful thing. Just for giggles, if you reload, try some 7/8 ounce loads in it. I have an old Purdey that shoots them so very well and comfortably.

An absolutely lovely gun. Treasure it, and use it.

As Radar O'Riley would say, "Ah, Bach"!

Very nice gun. What is the length and chokes of the extra set of barrels?

Very fine gun. Looks like superior proof (two crowns). Would much like to see the rest of the proof marks on the barrels just ahead of the flats.

You NEED to give your Father a HUG and tell him how wonderful
he is to have the vision to buy such a nice gun smile

L'Atelier means The Workshop
and it was certainly a work of love in the craft shop

Verney Carron bought the firm of Demas, and I believe Mr. Demas worked in the high end workshop for a time. Your Father's gun is from about the right time frame for that.
Very beautiful gun. Use it in good health.

L'atelier V-C--probably best translated as their custom shop--used to be Demas. V-C bought them out and made them their high-end operation. Unfortunately, pretty sure that V-C isn't making any sxs outside their atelier operation, which is too bad. But they do make a bunch of OU's and provide barrels to other companies as well. There was a time when V-C made a wide range of sxs, including some very nice lower grade, less expensive guns.

One of my all-time favorite gun ads comes from the 1922 V-C catalog. Full page photo of Captain Rene Fonck, surviving ace of aces of both sides in WWI (70-some planes to his credit), with the following inscription:

"I am very pleased with your Verney-Carron Helice Grip shotgun. The birds drop like Krauts!"
