Gartenmeiter,
Very nice drilling, I like it a lot. Curious, what is the rifle cartridge?

Very nice looking drilling. Did you get the scope to go with it.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

It is a Drillinge Modell Selbstspannerdrilling System Modern. Possibly a Modell 2 within that subset:
Modell 2 in besserer Ausfhrung, automatisches Visier and Jagdstckgravierung.
It is a Roux action variant that somewhat resembles Meffert's Gewehr 3200 patented. I'd guess it to be pre-1912 but could we have a gander at the marks?
Kind Regards,
Raimey rse

Very nicely engraved...hard to believe it is pre 1912 by the condition of the stock. Congratulations! STeve

Nice, clean old drilling.Rifles with bore dia. shown as 118/35 usually have a groove dia of around .358-.359". Bullets for 35 Rem.work and are a lot cheaper than 9.3 bullets( of course some of us prefer cast bullets for general use).Have fun. Mike

So can we date this? Is it in fact pre-1912? I know very little about German proof/markings.
Concerning the rifle bore, it has not been slugged but the previous owner suggested that he thought it shot fine with 148gr 38 wadcutters. I have a number of different .358 bullets to try....and they are VERY cheap....over some 4759 or 5744 perhaps?
oskar, I did not get a scope with it.

Weaver Grand Slam extra high steel rings have enough meat on them to carve out a very nice set of serviceable rings.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.
