In looking at some of the German markings, it appears the "antler" mark is an Oberndorf proof mark circa "1939(?) to 1945", but that doesn't gee-haw with the date code. But it could be a Nazi-era reproof of an earlier (11/24) Austrian nitro proof. Without benefit of higher magnification photos, I would say that the "anvil" mark may be little more than a poorly struck Nazi eagle. Or it's just one of those German maker marks for which the identity has been lost in the ravages of war. And now it's driving me bonkers too...thanks a lot.
