Shortly after this thread was originally posted, a gentlemen from Iceland contacted me looking for additional information on your uncle as he was planning to write an article for the "Icelandic Hunting Association". I have not heard of the article being published, but hold out hope that it will some day.

Yes there are gun makers in Iceland but I do not know much about it.
