Ah, at last a person to ask this question to. How about walnut sawdust as a filler? The really fine powder from the Disc/Belt sander. Could this be combined with the normal extended-time epoxy?

I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.
