Binko: It is not surprising you lost tension in the spring if you were using the annealed spring material from Brownells. Some of the stuff they have sent out lately has not been hardenable at least by techniques normally used. You need to get a fairly high carbon steel, about 1095, from a source that might supply steel for knife making. Let me know if you need help with that. Gil
