Gary, that CCH was done by me. I can do it for others too. Concerning warping, it is possible to machine blocks to fit to the action to prevent warping. I also do stock making, checkering, finishing, slow rust bluing, chasing engraving,etc...how far are you wanting to go?

Any engraving other than border? Are you planning a full on restoration?

Trade secrets should not be expected to be shared freely. A man, a family or company spends countless hours learning and perfecting his trade. He should be able to protect his lifetimes work. I find it funny when others get mad because information like this is not freely shared.

If a golfer perfected his putting such that he could sink every putt within 50 feet would you expect him to show you how he does it if you were a competitor? And knowledge given out freely would end up in hands of every competitor.

The 8 Bore rifle is a Walter Locke, border engraved and has the butt stock replaced. I do not plan a total restoration, just make it look more original. Gunmaker, what would you charge to color harden the action and ancillary parts? I can do the polishing. What kind of time frame are you looking at and where are you located at? The rifle is large and weighs over 18 pounds, the bores are as new. Thanks!
