if I remember correctly, 8.15x46 was one of the favourite calibers of poachers in the Bavarian/Austrian mountains.
I have seen a fold-up/take down single shot hammer rifle (about 18 inches folded ) with a snap-on thin rifle scope.
The hammer is the type you find on a H&R single barrel shotgun or a 1911)
It had a thin sling - when taken down you had two pieces connected with the sling - you would hang the sling around your neck and had the two pieces dangling left and right under your coat.
That's how the poacher would carry it without attracting attention.
This gun probably dates back to the early 1900's but was used well into the 1980's
edit: until the poacher was caught!
