The previous owner had the chambers lengthened to 2 3/4.. should I still be using rst shells in this gun, or are rem 1oz game loads not going to hurt it?

You can also usually find AA 7/8 oz. 6200psi loads at Wal-Mart. It's marked Low-Noise, Low-Recoil. They work just fine for trap and small birds. Other major brands have low recoil stuff as well. For larger pellet stuff you can either go the Polywad/RST/B&P route or find a reloader willing to make you up enough to get you through a season..

I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

My mistake, I thought it was for a 12 ga...

If it is a 1 frame 16 then just about any factory load should be fine, it's certainly heavy enough. However, I have a 0 frame that weighs under 6 pounds and 7/8 oz of RST's or light reloads gives me all the recoil I care to have. Granted, I don't have as much testosterone as some folks around here do.

Here's a round up of 16ga shells. http://www.16ga.com/cartridges.html You can give the manufactures a call for pressure specs, sometimes they are helpful, B&P lists their pressures.

I don't know why but the 16 ga link doesn't have RST listed. RST makes 16ga in: 3/4 oz @1100 fps, 7/8 oz @ 1125 fps & 1oz @ 1200. All are 2 1/2" length and appropriate pressure for vintage guns. I have a 16 that weighs right at 6 lbs & I prefer not to shoot anything heavier than 1 oz loads in it because of recoil & I usually shoot 3/4 oz or 7/8 oz in it for any type of clay targets to keep the recoil as low as possible where a lot of shots are fired. If you have a 16 ga that is more in the 6 1/2 to 7 lb. range then the B&P 1 1/16 oz or any of the 1 1/8 oz loads of appropriate case length & pressure should work for you.

Your Parker will handle the Remingtons but I prefer the promo Winchester Super X Game Load, the ones made in Australia or the Federal/Estate 1 ounce load. At 1150 fps they are a bit kinder to the shoulder and if you are a reloader or have a friend that reloads 16s they are much better hulls to reload.
