I have a plain field grade Elsie with the 2 piece tang. I had to do some work on the tang and replace a screw. When I went to cold blue the screw I noticed the old grey patina of the tang was showing the case colours. I kind of went over board and blued the entire receiver that also was a grey patina with no case colour showing. However the cold blueing seemed to pull out the remaining case colours and I was quite impressed. My only mistake was leaving the bluing solution on too long and the receiver turned blacker than I would have liked. Sorry no pics at this time but I was wondering what I actually did and how permanent it might be.
