I had one of the large glass bottles of Hoppes #9 that I inadvertently left in a box in an attic for several years. It went through several brutally hot summers and brutally cold winters. The stuff turned to varnish and lost its' typical pleasant aroma. A bottle of shooters choice (before the #7) in the same box didn't turn to varnish. Odd, but I lost faith in Hoppes after this inadvertent "experiment".
