A beautiful gun but one of the photos has made me curious, it appears the gun has a POW grip. Isn't that rather odd for that old a gun?

Any one of us should be so lucky as to still be hunting rabbits at age 160. That's a lovely old gun and I hope you enjoy it for many years.

Last week I managed to find a pic of one that also showed a POW grip. Of course now I can't find the pic.

Nice double, and if it's your first percussion muzzleloader you're in for some fun. I simply love them and so far have managed to acquire 5 shotguns and one double rifle.

Steve, you're correct, the POW grip seems to be rare on these guns. As an aside, the Westley Richards 12 bore I bought from Tony Treadwell has a POW grip, but I'm very suspicious of this gun as it also has a raised cheekpiece, (some would say "Monte Carlo") which leads me to think this "shotgun" was originally a double rifle.

If anyone could come up with a documented percussion double shotgun with such a stock my suspicions would fade.

I have a 148 year old breech loader (March 6, 1866) that has a pistol grip. Based on the shape of the back action locks it was built as a pistol grip gun. I believe that more pistol and POW grip guns were built early on than we generally think.

No, not my first. I have a James Burrows 12 bore and a J. Grainger 12 bore as well.
