Outdoor Life just had a column from the Editor announcing that Jim Zumbo was moving on. And we all know what has happened to Don Imus. It just makes me glad to know that I don't make my living at the whim of people. Fame is fleeting. One minute the masses love you, the next they are running for the tar and feathers. It has to be a hard line to follow, You got the job because people want to hear your opinion....except when they don't like it. sooner, or later you have to fall from grace, or become a brown-noser like our beloved Senator Orrin Hatch. I mean, who hasn't said something that offended someone and then they can't take it back? What's the alternative? A spineless jellyfish of a man?

And I agree with Mike. Imus went out of his way to offend people. His career lived by being offensive, it died by it, and he richly deserved what he got.

Jim Zumbo, on the other hand, has a long history of positive contributions to the hunting community. He was axed for publishing one opinion that offended an unforgiving audience.

Imus is a disgusting creep who should have been gone long ago. The only injustice here is that two bigger creeps, the two real "nappy-headed 'hos", Sharpton and Jackson, are getting a lot of press and credit for nailing Imus. They really did nothing, the network axed him because of all the sponsors they lost. Good riddance! Now if we(black and white) could just get rid of Jackson and Sharpton, the world would truly be a better place. JMO, of course.

I, too, found Imus offensive and was perpetually amazed that people looked to him for opinions. I think there are others who go out of their way to be even more offensive to traditional values. They often hide behind political correctness in doing it. That needs to change too. Whatever happened to plain, old consideration for the other person?

I'm with Mike, Jack and Jim. The only thing I would add is that the guy (producer?) that was bantering with Imus said even more offensive things than Imus. Where's his head? I'd guess he got fired too, but he sure didn't get the keel hauling that Imus got, but maybe he should have.

I don't have a very high opinion of Jesse Jackson, but I gained a lot of respect for Al Sharpton when he sang "I Feel Good" on Saturday Night Live.....Jim, I think you'll find that Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the NAACP, and others had a big hand in convincing the sponsors to disassociate themselves with Imus....

To the best of my knowledge Sharpton "Never Apologized" for the "RACIST" bashing he gave the "Duke, LaCrosse" team. I had never listened to Imus so not really knowledgeable on his show, so not going to affect me one way or the other. It was however, apparently a "Raging Sucess". Guess, as was mentioned in a previous post, he was saying what a lot of people wanted to hear. As I understand it Imus' remark was an attempt at humor, Sharpton's bashing wasn't. Many seem to forget, Racism is a two way street.

Sorry, Mikey. I don't believe Sharpton or Jackson ever solved anything or helped anyone except to line their own pockets. Their whole existence is about maintaining the belief that all the people they claim to care about are nothing more than victims of "whitey". They are poverty pimps of the worst order. They can't afford to let racial hate go away. They'd be out of business, and that business is what they are all about. They don't speak for all black people anymore than AlGore or Slick Willy speak for me.
