Hi all, I have always liked the swedish Mauser and the 6.5x55 caliber. Doesn't kick as hard as the 308 and accuracy is pretty good. While looking around in the hope of finding a good M96, I found an original CG63 (Carl Gustaf M96 special Target Rifle made in 1963 by Carl Gustaf with a Schultz & Larsen heavy barrel and a target stock) in 6.5x55 and managed to buy it for little money out of an estate.
The original target sights have been removed and scope mounts fitted which suits me just fine as otherwise I would have had to do the work. My eyesight is not good enough nowadays to shoot with vernier sights - although somewhere in one of the many parts boxes I should have a few sights left over from my Bisley shooting days. I remember shooting with Schultz&Larsen Rifles and others with S&L barrels back in the days - early/middle 1970's and they used to be the Bee's knees then. Also glass bedding came in around that time, if I remember correctly.
So, all in all I'm pretty excited about this find - brings back memories of my heyday in target shooting - with a bit of luck it might actually shoot well!
Will be sent to me on monday and I'm looking forward to getting it. Will have to find some cerrosafe and do a throat cast to see what's what. I think Midway (there is a shop in the UK) have it in stock.
Is there anything related to reloading/other info on the 6.5x55 cartridge here on this forum?
Will post some pictures when it gets here.
Best regards Gunter NRA Life 1974

Have a CG-63 that I shoot all the time, and love it. Even with Swedish surplus ammo it is still a tack driver. You will enjoy it! Best, Craig
