I am coming in a little late on this, but I would agree that a contract was formed when the price was agreed upon, and the gun became DrBob's if/when the check was cashed, if not sooner (such as when the check was mailed).
I am afraid this women is a con artist. Hoping I am wrong . . .

The check was cashed. I have a copy. Postal Inspector is the next step.

So sorry to hear that the checked was cashed. I hope you have good luck in recovering the funds and exposing this person for what she is.
You two agreed upon a price. You tendered and she accepted your payment. That gun is yours. She refuses to turn it over to you. One way or another, that is theft of a firearm, which is a pretty serious crime.
IMHO, this person is obviously an experienced crook and this is not her first rodeo. Now that she has been caught red handed trying to con you and possibly others, she will employ all her well-practiced tricks to evade accountability. Time and obfuscation are her friends. I would move hard and fast against her on as many simultaneous fronts as possible.
Again, good luck.

Sorry to hear that as well. If the USPS inspectors don't make you feel like they are going to do anything, perhaps a call here-thats grand theft (over 1000 in Utah); http://www.sgcity.org/police/policefaq.php

I was asked the serial number of the gun in a PM. It is 58667.

My experience with recovering funds or the merchandise through the Postal Inspectors is fruitless. Their answer to me was that they do not pursue non delivery of a purchased item. This occurred some years ago when a fellow named Bob something was supposed to be making Ithaca NIDs again. This was before Steve Lamboy went into business on them.

In that case I also contacted the Salt Lake city FBI.

It would be a sorry shame if the "law" (FBI or USPS inspector) kept both the gun and the 'funds tendered' as evidence in a case that may not see a judge for a long, long time.
