For what it's worth, it appears to be easier to get parts for the Beretta than the Sauer. My friend who has a post-war Sauer had a broken tumbler (never heard of something like that happening before), and it took nearly a year to finally get the proper one to fit.

And I agree with the above; the Beretta is a better known brand, thus easier to sell if you ever want to do. Jim Haynes

Thanks again.

Jorge--that's interesting. I'm sure it does refer to the USAF base.

I've owned a couple Model 60's, and the photos in the 1961 Shooters Bible show the same configuration as mine: no sideclips, no cocking indicators. The Royal, however, had both. Wonder if perhaps earlier Model 60's had the sideclips and cocking indicators, which were later eliminated to save manufacturing costs?

Larry,

A friend had a 12 bore that he picked up in Germany while in the army in the 60's.It was similar to this one, only his did not have side clips or cocking indicators. The one I'm looking at does not have the scalloped frame of the Royal and it's dated 1952. By the time the 1961 Shooters Bible came out, they may very well have dropped those costlier features.
