Chuck: I would think you would have great fun doing it yourself. If you get most of the prep done we can rust blue it here on a rest day.

Bachelder - he knows the correct colors for just about any American made gun. He's just done a couple of restorations for me and I'm 100% satisfied . 1-616-459-3636 - not Sat, Sun, or Monday and after 10AM EST.

Thanks much to all. I've spoken with several folks and decided on Jim Wiegand.

You will be pleased. Jim does high quality blacking on Winchester firearms....like factory. I've known him since I was a kid. He's a very good general gunsmith and one of the best at Winchester restoration. BTW, he does very good work on 21's too, but sends the barrels off for rust bluing.

If your stock and forend turn out anywhere close to the pre-64 M70 stock Donnie built for me, you will be extremely happy. I just wish I could afford to have him restock my LC Smith. Having a new daughter at home has hampered my gun fun for a while.

I'm glad you are happy Chuck. Your solid rib 20b Model 12 is very nice. Also, if you need any work on Model 21's don't hesitate sending it to Jim Wiegand. He has a thorough understanding of the 21's mechanics which can be complex. He's very, very good at what he does!
