Gentlemen: I've acquired a beautiful French 12 bore that I've not been able to identify. The only name on the receiver is on the cover plate "Dubois Lagny". I"ve asked my friend Geoffroy Gournet if he is familiar with this; his reply was that it was most likely a store/dealer, as it is not uncommon to have the dealer name on the cover plate.
Intriguing, though, is a lion stamp on the water table, along with the PS under crown proof mark. Geoffroy says it looks like a Peugeot stamp, or perhaps Berthon Freres. Anyone know about Peugeot shotguns?
I've got some good photos but don't really know how to get them on this post. This is one of the sexiest receivers I've evere seen, beautifully sculpted fences and engraving; also, the gun's got Leopold Bernard barrels. Any help would be appreciated.
