Hey Guys,
I recently traded some old camper equipment for a .22 and AH Fox Sterlingworth double barrel (30"). Action is tight and shoots great. fore-grip looks to be the original walnut Other than the serial numbers matching and the stock obviously having been replaced i don't know much about the gun. its in fair to good shape is say with some scuffs, minor dents. Serial is 57XXX I took it on trade for around $150-200 so i'm wondering what its actually worth and hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction with a rough estimate

(12 ga) Sterlingworth pin gun .If bores ,chokes and lock-up are still ok my estimate $200.Condition looks rough a good brush-up and a basic re-stock needed, put $2000 in it and it will be worth $1500-$1900 but have a good shooter

I agree w GMCS, it is a rough gun that is far from original. With the stock pinned it's more or less a parts gun.

At the very least it's a Sterly pin gun. A rarer example then the later Sterlies. Check out how much it would cost to put a new (fitted) butt stock on before you consider getting rid of it.

First of all
DustinB, Welcome to this site on your first postsing.

You did well in your trade.

Yes the gun is a bit rough but should be a
good and safe shooter.

I would say to the non-elete hunter/collector that
this could be sold for $299. smile

Come on!!! Top-lever way left of center. Barrels look like they've been beaten on with a hammer. Poorly fitted non original stock, split at the head and pinned. Forearm wood screws pulling out and wood loose on the forearm metal. And, it is a 12-gauge 30-inch Sterlingworth, far and away the most common Ansley H. Fox double made. Yes, it is a "pin gun" but there were over 12000 of those made, not even close to scarce.

Unless you are capable of doing all the work it needs yourself, it is a money pit any way you look at it. Part it out and be done with it.

This poor old girl has been rode hard and putup wet too many times. Unless you can do all the work yourself it will never be worth the sum of the parts. It is best to heed Researcher's advice.

I get jittery when ever I hear or see this corny overused phrase that makes no sense when talking about guns.
