As an anti-slip expedient on a checkered butt, add vertical strip of self-adhesive 3/4 or 1" wide Velcro hook. Did this to Charlin and AyA No.2, liked it and finally added a strip to slippery buttplate on Flues. Only problem, straps of Cabellas vest have an affinity for the stuff; good coming up as you can't slide the butt but after the shot literally have to pull the butt away from the strap like a sink plunger. When you need it off there for whatever reason, any residual adhesive easily removed with Bestine.
