Geo. , if you fill it with Laphroag 18 Year you can catch the smoky scent before too much is lost.
That might be hard to find- Now- Laphroaig might work- I won a fifth of that single malt and found it took the rust right smack off my Reese Hitch on my Jeep Liberty- and the rest I poured on the any hills in the expansion cracks in the driveway last August- killed them deader than snakeshit too- Me, I'll take Bushmills, Ezra Brooks, Wild Turkey 101 and George Dickel please. Scotch single malts are way over-rated and way more over-priced, IMO!!
Fox, I happen to really enjoy a good single malt and have quite an assortment. Islays, Highlands, Speysides etc. But you are right about the price. I haven't paid for one in years. All my family and friends know it is a no-lose Christmas or birthday gift. And I couldn't be happier.
But should anyone wonder, I sure won't turn my nose up at a nice bourbon now and then.
