гра&#1...082;а на Янд&#1...072;х

Have you seen anything like that - I mean the action screws number and location - before?

Looks like a Russian boxlock of the type built in Izhevsk during the '40s. Nice engraving.

That is a beautiful gun, Humpty. Tell us more about it! Love the carved fences.

In short, this is a one-off gun made or completed in Izhevsk in 1945. Problem is, this boxlock action doesn't look like anything produced in Izhevsk before or after. The question is, basically, whether it's an all original design or someone picked up an action made somewhere else and finished that.

The owner had it restored recently but failed to take pictures of a disassembled action.

The making of shotguns in Izhevsk was halted in June 1941 for obvious reasons and resumed in 1944, but the guns made from 1944 to 1949 were sidelocks made on prewar "B" action. The boxlocks made later on were a copy of Sauer Model 8 - again, nothing like this.

The location of the axle screws follows the usual Anson Deeley pattern, with the exception of the pins (screws) behind the fence. This can indicate an additional intercepting sear.

What I can't see is a split bottom plate, which would be a surprise for such a high quality double.

Yeah, it is a either a Kerner-Anson action with some rear frame sculpting or as noted above it either has overhanging & intercepting scears or it was made to look that way.

Kind Regards,

[s][/s]Here's what it looks like disassembled.

Quality a bit higher IMO than on the boxlocks made in Izhevsk in the later years.

What can you say about the design?

Maybe it's a German action/barrels brought back from Suhl in the white after the Russians took over and finished for the soldier(officer?)later.
