Hi all

I am in the market for another riflescope and got interested in the Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40 scope after reading a very positive write up in the American Rifleman (July 2013 - Rifle Anew - build your own rifle)on this particular scope.
If the quality is as described, then it has exactly the features I am looking for.

This scope seems to be 50% more expensive here in Europe than in the US, so I did a search in the US - (Ebay and other sellers) and came across a few notices mentioning 'Export Licenses' for sales of Rifle Scopes from the US to Europe

Is this true? If so, then it would probably not be worthwhile to buy in the US as that probably incurs further cost?

Does anyone know what the exact position is?

Thanks for any info
and in the meantime, a merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to all.

I was price shopping a Panasonic Camera (Lica clone) in Germany and it listed for 3x what I paid in the states. I am not sure pricing was as tight in Europe as it is here in the states. The store was in the heart of Colone, good help, helped me out but HIGH.

I am just trying to find out what the story is with the 'export licence' for a scope sight

I want to avoid possibly having to pay an extra $50 or whatever it is on top of the purchase price and postage.

Best regards
Gunter
