Over the Thanksgiving weekend, friends and I went to the hunt club. My dogs hadn't been on birds since last March except for a few pigeon plants during the summer.

My wife took these pix. There's some pretty good shots of some good dog work by the dog handler's dogs that my friends pay for and my dogs. Some of them they are even working together pretty well.

The handler said his german shorthairs were pointing.

My pointer on the left with the handler's shorthair cooperating on a point. I'm sure my dog got there first. laugh

I had forgotten all of my dog e-collars including the gps. No worries about the old lab, but the young pointer can light the afterburner and disappear over the horizon pretty quick. I think she ran a few miles over to those tanks, put a paw on them and ran back, when I let her out of the truck.

My lab gettin a few birds up.

This sequence shows the handler's shorthair backing my pointer, then a friend walking past each dog while they were staunch.

It's always a treat to see good dog work.

it's not wild birds, but it's still keeps the dogs sharp and it's a good time.

Very, very nice. Love to watch the dogs. Your wife is a fair hand with a camera as well.

I think you're right. He had a first year, three digit 42 along that day. I loaned my latest 42 to one of my friends along that day. Its that nearly unused 1959 one I found at Kesselrings in WA recently. He hounded me to buy that gun all evening over dinner. I couldn't sell it. Even my wife asked me if I'd sell it to him.

Great pics, Chuck! Mucho thanks to your bride! And thanks for posting them. Its interesting how a telephoto lens brings those birds closer than they are in some of the pics. Very nice dog and camera work both.

Sounds like your bud will have to pick up the 42 gauntlet & find his own. And that, of course, is what makes the world go 'round. Might wanna mention to him the deal Bruce Buck recently pointed out about Simmons upgrading 42's. That may be the easiest way to acquire a really nice shooter.
