Farrokh of Florida sent me an email in an attempt to update the number of #1s that M.V. Highsmith built. Farrokh has one in 500-2 1/4" or 50 Alaskan. High took a Browning 50 MG (.512") tube and turned down to a diameter he fancied. Ed Mason executed the tap, tap, tap adornment on the gun metal. And there was at least one more in 30-06 or something similar.
Farrokh & I have had the pleasure of sharing some of Mrs. Highsmith's fine fare at least once together. My favourite is her Persian duck.
While it is on my mind and I need to post it on the gun cleaner thread, but my father-in-law gave me a bottle of Gun Cleaner from High and it is supposed to be used over and over according to the directions. The name on the label is:
Willie L. Kaiser Gunsmith 3420 Egypt-Central Road Nemphis(Memphis) 8, Tennessee Phone EV 6-9244
Kind Regards,
Raimey rse

Send that gun up to Maryland for me to testfire. I shoot crossover guns and appreciate the left eye scope placement. Let me know if I have misinterpreted the picture. I have a John Oberlies Model 54 .220 Swift that is equipped (by me) with an offset scope in G&H mounts to accommodate my near blind right eye. I would normally shoot a crossover stock, but with rifled arms, a modification of the scope mounts works just as well.

Raimey,
Is the engraving on the above pictured Ruger No.1 by the previously mentioned Ed Mason? I am not familiar with Mason or his work.

Rest easy in the bosom of God good gentleman. JR Amen, John. I understand Mr. Highsmith passed in his sleep. What a wonderful thing, to lie down for rest, and to wake in the presence of our Lord. R.I.P. SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.
