The Outers brush I was talking about is brass or bronze, not steel.

After a few hundred trap rounds there is a buildup of scunge in my barrels. I suppose it is made up of plastic, lead, and powder. An aluminum rod chucked up in a battery powered drill with the Outer's brush can clean it out in about ten minutes. It takes me a long time with a the classic wooden cleaning rod and British brass brush.

I don't see how I can damage the barrel with aluminum and brass cleaning tools.
