I have a dealer account with AKAH, a firm in Germany who has given me prices on S&B bullets for 9.3X72R and 8X57JR. Here is his price quote:

S&B Bullets .366 193 grs 9,3x72 R box of 100
EUR 30,00 (Price for 1000 pcs)
EUR 34,00 (Price for 500 pcs)

S&B Bullets .318 196 grs 8x57 JR box of 100
EUR 26,00 (Price for 1000 pcs)
EUR 28,50 (Price for 500 pcs)

I am sure that he means that the prices quoted are for a box of 100 bullets in quantities of 500 or 1000. As a comparison, Hawk bullets charges $40 for 50 .318 bullets. That's more than twice what these prices are. I can use a few hundred of the .318s. There may be an additional cost for export fee and shipping. I will be able to get exact figures once I get a better idea of the quantity needed. If anyone is interested in joining me for a group buy, please PM me your email and I will contact you.

I happen to have a small "stock"of bullets for both, but I highly recommend, especially owners of the older 9.3s,a sufficient stock of bullets be "laid by".Don't be concerened if slugging your 9.3 barrel shows a groove diameter of less than the bullet's .366" dia.(even as small as .352").These 9.3 bullets are specially made to be useful in smaller barrels, without driving pressures up excessively.Vol423 is owed a debt of gratitude for doing this.

Hey Mike, reference that one e-mail of mine to you, the same would apply to my 9.3 X 75R, correct?

Sharps, IMHO yes. Here is a pic of such bullets as used in the old bp 9.3 cartridges. Third from left is a modern S&B 9.3mm 193 gr Tesco type copper jacket bullet. Fourth is a competing "Nimrod" 9.3 mm 180gr copper jacket bullet. Ten of these "Nimrod" bullets I once found in a drawer of a deceased hunter, together with ten emptied, unfired 9.3x75R Nimrod cases.

Vic,
As Axel said, it does apply to your rifle.A chance to participate in such a group buy doesn't come along every day, take full advantage of it.

I have commitments for at least 1000 bullets in each caliber. I'll ask AKAH to calculate the export fee and the shipping and post the final numbers as soon as I get them.

Please contact me by email: allanmckinney@msn.com. I had 7-8 emails on these when I looked at the forum again tonight.

Even though I have commitments for about 3000 of each bullet, AKAH says that the only way to ship will cost about 200 Euros. That kills any savings unless the volume increases. Let me know your thoughts.

Any explanation as to why so much? At what volume does the shipping go down?

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

As much as I would like to have the bullets I believe I would have to pass at that point. Lead is heavy and shipping isn't cheap anymore.
