I have lengthened about half of mine, most in the early years of shooting these old guns. Never could tell enough difference to justify it. So, I've stopped. And if you ever want to shoot fiber wads you've really hurt the gun. The purpose of a short cone was to allow the fiber wad to quickly seal the gases. Fiber in a long cone is probably not going to prevent blow by.
