I like the small Filson Field Bag half the size of the one pictured. Hold Glasses Earmuffs Gloves scorecard etc, all small stuff. Shells in a shell bag. I don't put game in the field bag. Game depends, cooler for Doves or Ducks strap for Geese. If I was walking up birds would probably use a vest.

Put everything in one bag it has to be big and gets heavy.

I have an over the shoulder bag that I never use for hunting. Most of my small upland game hunting is doves and quail. Vests are okay, but restrictive at times.

I like this type bag, and have used them for most of my life. It is just hard to improve on this design. Just make sure it does not have the bags that slide around on the belt, but are secured in place like these. I don't really care for the snap pocket closures, but you can usually fold the top back for easy shell access. Dove shooting, when I walk out to pick up a dove, I can drop it in my rear game pocket and have both hands free for my gun, often allowing me another good shot or two before I get back to my stool. Once there the bird can be put in a cooler, etc.

Other companies, like Cabela's, have them at lesser prices.

If I had the Filson bag and used it a lot, I would sew velcro patches on the side flaps to avoid having to "find" the snaps. If you attend my estate sale, you will see some shell bags and pouches as well as a good supply of bird vests, more than you will want to see.

I like the Filson vests but have no use for the oil finish on them. Stiff when cold and hot to wear in warm weather. I sent mine to the dry cleaners and had the oil removed. Fantastic results! Now very comfortable in all weather conditions and just as strong.

Couple cycles through a regular laundry gets most all the wax out, too. NB: don't use the electric dryer unless sure you got all the wax off.

If the wife doesn't like that idea, ask if you can pls use the automatic dishwasher. Or just wait till she's not around. Like when I want to clean parts after use of corrosive ammo.
