I'd have to keep the Belgian Browning A-5 16 ga.with the cyl choke and military style safety. Not my favorite gun to shoot, but if you only get to keep one you gotta keep the one dearest to you...Geo

I'm basically an upland hunter these days and by far and away my favorite gun is a Parker DH 28" damascus on a #1 frame. Six pounds eight ounces of pure joy. This 'un would stay though it's not the most valuable by any stretch.

Draconian. Completely Draconian. How in heavens could this happen? And how would I decide?

Mom gave me an Italian "Companion" folding single shot underlever 12 when I was 14. My chubby little Irish Mom went out of her way, and paid a bunch, simply because my Dad thought it was the best choice for his kid. It is a good quality gun (Beretta, I think) but, bare bones to the max. So, sentiment goes with that one.

Utility would bring me to my second gun, a model 17 Remington pump. I have two barrels, the original tube at 21" with Stan Bakers chokes, backbore and chamber work that throws simple incredible patterns with off the shelf ammunition, and a recently acquired 26" modified choke tube. Useful for about everything I will chase for the next 20 seasons, or so.

Vanity. My 1946 vintage Darne R10, once belonging to Steve Bodio, restocked in France to fit me fifty years later, in smoky, old, and beautiful French walnut, with Darne sling. Wood WAY out of proportion to the grade of gun, and, I like it like that, Thank You, very much. I've used this gun for a long time, and it was always along when my Gordon got old, or my Dad made the trip in recent years-I can sling it, and carry an old dog out of the woods, or my fathers gun, when he gets too tired and needs a break. He is getting close to 80, and, can't make it out all that much anymore. The last legit double I got on ruffed grouse happened with this gun, and the only gun I've shot more birds with is the model 17. I have more memories of friends congratulating on nice shots with this gun, than any other I own.

If this ever comes to pass, it will be a sad day indeed.
Best,
Ted

As I'm in town more than I am in the field, the last gun to go will be the S&W Model 49 .38 snubby.

I've a 360 PD Scandium, but, if they want me to have just one, I'm guessing the handguns would be a forgone conclusion.

That little airweight, loaded with .38+P Federal Hydrashocks, is pretty close to my person, usually.
Best,
Ted
