Has anyone stripped the classic trigger plate lockwork (eg Dickson/MacNaughton/McKayBrown)? I have an 1880's MacNaughton which is ropy on the stock and barrel front but the lockwork is in good condition - just needs a good clean. I am considering restocking and barreling as these guns are worth restoring. I cant see how to safely take the load off the mainspring or indeed the sear spring - is there a special clamp for these actions?
Many thanks
