Hi franc.

The gun and case came from a friend of mine who was the grand son of the original case and gun owner who was also a game keeper and well into his seventies and still working. The case was in rather a poor state of repair being made from bent wood and during its life it had been left in some extremely damp places plus the moths had many a good meal out the felt to the point that there was very little of it left. So it was a choice of restore it or burn it loosing it for ever, so I decided to restore the inside using old reclaimed wool felt re-dyed. It was not originally lined with Baize at the time the case and gun where put together this would have been far too expensive for an Estate game keeper. After re-gluing some of its joints I used it for its original purpose a gun transport case as well as housing the gun it was originally made for.

The only lessons in my life I truly did learn from where the ones I paid for!
