I totally agree with Peter M and Fred Lowe, I think you might be asking too much from a young dog,...at one year the attention span is not there, sure there are exceptions but mostly they are still pups at that age and should be given some slack, if he wants to chase dicky birds let him, he will soon figure it all out, just don't loose your cool when he does, and if you need to buy equipment...Tritronics is the way to go
